About Us
About Us
The company’s activities will provide benefits to veterans with recognised mental or physical health problems, or those at risk of developing such conditions, with a particular focus on individuals transitioning from the armed forces into civilian life. Based in Newton Aycliffe, we aim to be a trusted centre for veterans support and community integration.
The concept is to engage veterans with mental and physical health conditions in meaningful activities that help rehabilitate, build practical skills, develop resilience, and prevent deterioration of health. Our services include veterans woodcraft sessions, which form a vital part of therapeutic activity. This initiative also supports veterans mental health support by offering a purposeful outlet and peer engagement. Additionally, we aim to help veterans’ families understand more about the effects of PTSD and other health-related conditions sustained during active service.
The Veterans Community Hub, based at our Community and Enterprise Centre, will offer a safe, inclusive space and diverse setting where veterans can speak to a supportive team of qualified people about their issues. As part of our wider effort to promote veterans mental health support, the hub will help combat loneliness, foster inclusion, and enable individuals to integrate into the local community. Our hub will also extend its services and facilities to vulnerable members of the local area, further strengthening community ties in Newton Aycliffe.
To support the veterans community, we offer two wood workshops focused on veterans woodcraft, a VR suite, and a welcoming Veterans Café. These facilities provide informal, yet effective, avenues for veterans support in a relaxed environment. We also have a referral plan in place to ensure that veterans can access additional support when needed.
The Centre will initially be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 10:00 to 15:30.
